Call for Presenters

The National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) is increasing its pool of potential contract instructors for technical courses relating to basic concrete principles and precast concrete manufacturing. Instructors may be contracted to present or co-present technical coursework during The Precast Show (www.theprecastshow.org) or during standalone courses such as NPCA’s Production & Quality School (PQS).

The Precast Show Coursework
NPCA coursework held in conjunction with The Precast Show is divided into several tracks. Production & Safety, Advanced Technical, Quality, Management & Leadership, Finance, Sustainability, Industry Leadership and Precast University schools:

Production and Safety Track

The Production and Safety Track features important topics that will enable plant employees to develop fundamental skills and learn best practices in the industry. Courses are designed for those involved in the daily production of quality precast concrete products and will offer topics that are appropriate for those seeking a broad range of knowledge in precast production.

Advanced Technical Track
Advanced Technical courses are intended for those who have completed a previous principles course track or the NPCA Production and Quality School, and those who have baseline industry knowledge and would like advanced training.

Quality Track
The Quality Track is a new addition to NPCA’s career path. Courses in this sequence are appropriate for all levels of personnel. Because commitment to quality is of crucial importance in the precast industry, all precasters are encouraged to attend these courses.

Management and Leadership Track
The Management and Leadership Track is specifically geared toward owners, senior managers and those who aspire to hold such positions in the precast concrete industry. Leading instructors in industrial management will provide the latest instruction in philosophy and techniques. These courses will offer the opportunity to network with fellow managers to discuss common challenges. Time will be allotted after each course to visit with the instructor and discuss specific situations.

Finance Track
Finance Track courses are geared toward business owners, CFOs, accountants and others responsible for the long-term financial growth of the organization.

Sustainability Track
The Sustainability Track features courses focused on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations. This track displays our responsibility to sustain, if not enhance the natural environment and the economy. These courses are designed for all members of the precast concrete industry.

Industry Leadership Track
These courses are aimed at both NPCA members and members of the specifying and regulatory communities. Courses will address the many benefits of precast concrete products in design and construction today.

NPCA Schools
Unlike courses in the above tracks, NPCA schools are multi-day commitments. NPCA Schools include Precast University courses:

  • PQS I
  • PQS II - Technical
  • PQS II - Safety
  • PQS II - QA/QC
  • PQS II - Production
  • PQS III - Production Leadership
  • PQS
The Production & Quality School is currently NPCA’s baseline educational course offering. It is a two full-day course thoroughly covering the basic body of knowledge that all employees at a precast concrete plant are required to have. Current topics include:

    • Concrete Materials
    • Reinforcement
    • Concrete Mixes
    • Batching/Mixing
    • Pre-Pour Operations
    • Production Practices
    • Post-Pour Operations
    • Metric (as needed)
    • Quality Control

The course concludes with a 60+ questions exam, which the students are required to pass in order to obtain a certificate of course completion.

The list of course titles instructors can be contracted to teach is endless. Consequently, candidates must include a complete list of course titles/topics they are interested in teaching. Ideal candidates will have work experience within the precast concrete (or related) industry, but consideration may also be given to university/college instructors, graduate students and others familiar with subject matter and with adult learning styles.

Interested parties must submit resumes complete with relevant experience and course interests to:
