Pinnacle Award Judges Think PinkGainey's Concrete Products President Greg Roache makes the Pinnacle presentation.

A Marketing Campaign spotlighting the leadership of women in a male-dominated industr earned the “Best of Show” Pinnacle Award at the 2008 NPCA Winter Conference Feb. 9 in Denver.

Gainey’s Concrete Products of Holden, La., took home top honors for its “Think Pink” marketing campaign. From the pink manhole form parked next to the sign at the entrance to the company office to pink Gainey’s Concrete logos spray-painted on its products, the unique perspective on marketing has captured attention from specifiers, contractors and potential employees. The “Think Pink” presentation, entered in the Marketing/Management category earned the top overall score from Pinnacle Awards participants, who serve as the judges for the program.

Other category winners included Firebaugh Precast Inc. in the Production category for its Utility Anchor Boot Tool invention, and Pre-Cast Concrete Products of Maine Inc. in the Safety category for its Extreme Concrete Bucket Makeover program.

Firebaugh’s invention of a tool to remove the setting plug for utility anchors replaced a screw driver that often damaged the setting plug beyond repair. The tool applies even pressure on the plug and enables it to be stripped without damage, extending the life of the plug indefinitely.

The winning entry in the Safety category came from Pre-Cast Concrete Products of Maine for its design to automate pouring SCC from its 3 cubic yard bucket to reduce the risk of falls, shoulder strain and back strain.
