ACT and Oldcastle team up for preventive maintenance training
Advanced Concrete Technologies of Portsmouth, N.H., recently teamed up with Oldcastle Precast – Central Division to stage a first-ever three-day batch plant preventive maintenance training seminar. ACT, a manufacturer of turnkey concrete mixing and batching solutions, served as training program developer for the seminar.
Working closely with Oldcastle Precast’s management, ACT launched a comprehensive maintenance program that can be offered to customers through its new P3 Extended Service Program, a first for the concrete products industry, according to ACT. Oldcastle Precast’s focus was on preventive maintenance of mixing and batching plants, the heart of any concrete production operation.
The program covered the importance of a proactive preventive maintenance program and broke down a mixing and batching plant into all of its distinct components. Participants received detailed training on proper preventive maintenance for each component, then had hands-on training in control systems and call stations, moisture control and mixer safety.
The program ended with a session on how to make consistent concrete, which summarized the entire program and required the 36 participants to present their own maintenance programs with associated schedules.
