Off the Beaten Path: Precast at Detroit Auto Show
For GMC, nothing says innovation, power and sophistication like precast concrete.

This winter, car makers roll out new models of cars, trucks and SUVs that we’ve seen, haven’t seen and may never see again at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. One particular line, the GMC Denali, is on display to inspire innovation, power and sophistication inside every truck and SUV buyer – at least that’s what GMC is hoping for.

Innovation, power and sophistication are words GMC wants perspective car buyers to etch into their minds after they walk by the Denali display at the Jan. 13 auto show. To get auto enthusiasts thinking in these terms, GMC forked over big bucks on the Denali display – LED lighting, textured blue steel and precast concrete act as a unified, bold frame behind each Denali vehicle.

“A professional-grade truck deserves a professional-grade display,” says Timothy Peters, General Motors' assistant director of auto shows and operations. With this in mind, GM chose precast concrete, textured blue steel and chrome as a cool reference to the grille design of the Denali three-vehicle lineup.

Because of the secret nature of the auto show not to unveil too much before the paying public gets a look Jan. 13, the particulars on what type of precast are unknown.

Visit the NAIAS Web site during the dates of the show, Jan. 7-21, for more information and photos about the GMC Denali display.
